Gabriel Emengo, born January 1, 1960, studied fine arts at Institute of Management and Technology between 1980 and 1985, obtaining a Higher National Diploma, with a major in painting. His professional experience includes stints as an art teacher, and book illustrator. Since 1989, Emengo has been self-employed, running his personal studio in Onitsha. Emengo has remained consistent in the use of a technique he calls “dry touch” with which he produces works, drawing mostly from traditional Onitsha concepts. He has taken part in some group exhibitions.
