Buhari holds an M.F.A. of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He has had three solo shows and has taken part in thirty-eight group shows and seven international exhibitions. A member of several professional associations, he teaches art at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he was formerly Dean, Faculty of Environmental Design. He is a fellow of The Pan-African Circle of Artists and was nominated Acting International President of the association in 2002.
