Kofi was born in 1953 in Anomabo, a fishing village east of Cape Coast in the Central Regional; Capital of Ghana. He was born to an industrious fishing family who were both traditional drummers and carvers.


He had his primary and secondary school education in Ghana. Came to Nigeria in 1979 where he enrolled at the Yaba College Of Technology. He graduated in 1983 with an O.N.D in Fine Art after which he trained under Nigeria’s renowned artist Yusuf Grillo and the sculptor Tolu Filani with who he worked on many projects one of which was “The Drummer”, currently displayed at the entrance to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.


He received a H.N.D in Sculpture in 1992. He has participated in several group sculptural project and group exhibitions in Nigeria. The major ones organized by the Nigerian Institute of Management held at the National Museum, Lagos in 1995 and also the DNA exhibition at IBB International Golf and Country Club, Asokoro, Abuja 2001. He is renown for his drawings.


Asemnyinah is known for his intricate draughtmanship and has undertaken a number of commissions, projects and exhibitions.
